Bidwell Training Center’s 2013 Jesse W. Fife Jr. Fabric of Our Community Award given to The John and Cathy Pelusi Family Fund on March 8, 2013 at 5:30 p.m.

Family fund celebrated for helping BTC students to achieve goals, become contributors to the economy of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Bidwell Training Center (BTC), an affiliate of Manchester Bidwell Corporation, will be honoring the 2013 Jesse W. Fife Jr. Fabric of Our Community award recipient, The John and Cathy Pelusi Family Fund,   on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at 1815 Metropolitan Street on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

Every year, BTC selects an awardee who embodies the mission and vision of changing the lives of adults-in-transition in Southwestern Pennsylvania and demonstrates a significant and consistent contribution to the career training sector. This year’s honoree is a family fund. Like binding stitches in a quilt, members of this family strengthen the whole while remaining invisible from the outside. Through this family’s quiet generosity, Bidwell Training Center’s most vulnerable students receive assistance in their time of need, helping them to remain part of the fabric of our community.

The Pelusi Family realizes that life can deal the most determined Bidwell student a difficult hand that threatens to interfere with their journey to self-sufficiency. The generous contributions from the Pelusi Family Fund have helped those most in need to make ends meet so they can successfully complete training and become gainfully employed, contributing members of society.

Presenting the 2013 Jesse W. Fife Jr. Fabric of Our Community award will be President and CEO of Manchester Bidwell Corporation Bill Strickland and 2012 award recipient Scott Lammie, Chief Financial Officer, UPMC Health Plan and senior vice president, UPMC Insurance Services Division.

Other Fabric of Our Community honorees have included the Reverend Doctor James J. Robinson, Founder of Bidwell Cultural and Training Center; Jack Forsythe, new business opportunity analyst, Individual Marketing CAS, Bayer MaterialScience LLC; and Mary Curet Duranti. The award is named for the late Mr. Jesse W. Fife Jr., who received the award posthumously in 2011. During his long tenure as Manchester Bidwell Corporation’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Fife strengthened the fabric of Pittsburgh’s community by helping to create and nurture Bidwell Training Center, an adult career training center that has changed the lives of Southwestern Pennsylvanians over the past four decades.

This year, we would like to thank the following sponsors for their support of this event and BTC’s commencement ceremony on Saturday April 20, 2013 at Rodef Shalom Synagogue at 6:30 p.m.
