CoGo’s Convenience Stores Sponsor Transportation for School Field Trips
to Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Carnegie Science Center
— Regional schools serving kindergarten through grade 12 in low-income communities will now enjoy free field trip transportation to visit either Carnegie Museum of Natural History or Carnegie Science Center this school year, thanks to a generous transportation sponsorship from CoGo’s, a Pittsburgh-area convenience store chain.
The “Let’s CoGo to the Museums” program can be used in one of two ways. Qualifying schools may request funding for buses to bring school groups who have purchased a field trip to the museums. For many schools, the cost of field trip transportation is the greatest hurdle to providing informal science experiences to their students, such as those offered at Carnegie Museum of Natural History and Carnegie Science Center.
Qualifying schools that prefer assembly-style programs may also request funding from the “Let’s CoGo to the Museums” program to fund in-school assemblies provided by education staff from the Museum of Natural History or the Science Center. Assembly programs include the Science Center’s popular Science on the Road program or the Natural History’s Science on Stage program.
To find out if your school qualifies, call 412.622.3291 or email schuckerse@carnegiemuseums.org for Carnegie Museum of Natural History; call 412.237.3400, then press 7, or email murphyj@carnegiesciencecenter.org for the Science Center.
