John Christian, Former Radio and Television Personality, affectionally known as "Sir Walter" dies...
The family of John Christian, aka, Sir Walter, says John passed away in the evening of November 29, 2009 after a long illness, he was 92 years old.
Services will be private and the family has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the POISE Foundation. Christian first hit the airwaves, as a radio announcer in Pittsburgh for WAMO, and later as a newscaster, producer and talk show host for WPXI-TV. He retired from WPXI-TV in 1992 after 22 years. As a golf enthusiast, Christian raised more a substantial amount of money for area social services through his annual charity golf tournament.
