Thaw “Coach Tee” Washington is one of Pittsburgh’s most under-recognized heroes, according to Bill Richardson of the Center for Family Excellence.
Roger Kingdom, 1984 and 1988 Olympic men’s hurdles champion, who appears on the front cover with Mr. Washington, said “I’ve seen the energy Tee displays working with kids…and I have great admiration for him.” Cambrya Jones, Big East women’s 200 meter dash silver medalist, said “Mr. Washington is definitely a legend. I was with him my first year. He taught me a lot.”
Sam Clancy, University of Pittsburgh Varsity Letter Club Coordinator and men’s basketball all time rebound leader, said “Tee and George ‘Dew” Brown are the two men I have to thank for being part of my development from when I was 12 years old, until I graduated from high school.
Eddie Jeffries, former Pittsburgh Courier Sports Editor, said “I interviewed a lot of people. Tee Washington’s name kept coming up”.

You are no coach”. Some of the people in the stands asked, “what happened?” Coach Tee tried giving a reason for why he was being announced off the field.
