Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards Founder Dwayne Muhammad Dies..

Faded Industry is reporting that sources tell them that Dwayne Muhammad suffered a heart attack and lost the battle yesterday 12/03/2011. Faded has known Dwayne for many years and have had the pleasure to work with him on several occasions. We send our heartfelt condolences to his entire family.

The Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards show came about over 5 years ago now after the BET Hip Hop Awards show in Atlanta. Muhammad was there with producer Jermaine Dupri and he saw how excited Dupri was about having a hip-hop awards show in Atlanta. He was happy to have it in his hometown and that is where the idea was born to have the awards show here in Pittsburgh.

Muhammed saw the rise and fall of many great acts but who’s very own concept could have been a helpful tool for two very prominent artists currently on the nationwide scene. ”There’s a big snowball effect and I’m just glad to see that snowball’s growing,” says the founder of 360 Entertainment. “We remember seeing a 17- or 18-year-old Wiz still in high school coming to the show and winning those two awards. Now he’s the No. 1 artist in country on Billboard. I’m proud of that. Mac Miller last year won video of the year and under-21 artist and now he’s selling out venues across the country. That makes me proud.”

This is a very sad day for the hip hop community. Please spend a moment of silence for our fallen brother and we thank you for what you have given us.
