Launched in August 2009, Pittsburgh Urban Media is a website that connects visitors to the diverse communities in Pittsburgh and the surrounding communities.
Visitors to PUM have an opportunity to learn more about the news and cultural events taking place in the region. You can find very diverse stories that feature a variety of topics and individuals (perhaps with a twist) along with interviews featuring some of the nation's most provocative business and community leaders. A diverse group of contributors, writers, and special guest authors address hot topics on PUM. Visitors to PUM also have a voice and are encouraged to share their thoughts and opinions.
PUM is the spot where various opinions are shared and a place where you can find solutions to some of the problems plaguing the diverse communities. Stories and features on PUM also encourage visitors to find ways to give back to their community by "Being the Change."
Oh yeah, PUM also provides the celebrity interviews and global news that will keep you informed about what is happening in the world.
PUM is all about celebrating our differences and embracing our diversity, and we hope you are encouraged to learn and grow from all cultures.

REGIS D. BOBONIS SR. - PUM Historian & Contributor
(Historian) was the first African American reporter at both a daily newspaper and a television station in the Pitsburgh region. He is the winner of seven Golden Quill Awards. With a grant from the United Way of SWPA, he cofounded Georgraphic Information Systems Education program (GISEP). This program designed an afterschool and summer high tech curriculum and internship project that provided team and leadership development inside real work situations for African American students from urban neighborhoods. He is also the vice president of the Danil B. Matthew Historical Society focusing on the history of the Tuskegee Airmen from the Pittsburgh area. He is also the co-founder of the POISE/Kiski Fund which provides financial assistance to minority students who meet the academic admission standards of one of the most prestigious private schools in Western Pennsylvania. He currently is the Founder and Chairman of the Board for the Tuskegee Airman Memorial Project of the Greater Pittsburgh
JACK L. DANIEL- PUM Contributor
Jack L. Daniel -Distinguished Service Professor University of Pittsburgh. Daniel served as Pitt vice provost for undergraduate studies and dean of students from September 2002 to December 2005. In his administrative role, Daniel served as chair of the Enrollment Management Steering Committee, coordinating a number of campuswide activities related to student recruitment, retention, satisfaction, graduation, and placement. He also was responsible for new undergraduate academic programs and worked with the Chancellor’s Diversity Task Force and Equipoise on issues relating to diversity.
At Pitt since 1968, Daniel has served as chair of the Department of Black Studies, vice provost for academic affairs, and interim dean of the College of General Studies.

Voted Most Outstanding Journalist of the Decade by the Disilgold Soul Literary Review in 2008, Kam Williams is a syndicated film and book critic who writes for 100+ publications around the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. He is a member of the New York Film Critics Online, the NAACP Image Awards Nominating Committee and Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to a BA in Black Studies from Cornell, he has an MA in English from Brown, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a JD from Boston University. Kam lives in Princeton, NJ with his wife and son.
